Valentines shortbread

Valentines day is amongst us (#foreveralone) and so I thought I'd throw out a little themed recipe for you to try out, perhaps with someone special. The recipe is fool proof and a nice way to have fun and eat something yummy at the end. I mixed things up with a little try at a 'Jamie dodger' style biscuit sandwiches although the original plain biscuit was just as delish.

Hopefully the pictures are useful in showing you what I did at each step. Here's the full simplified recipe:

Ingredient
  • 150 grams plain flour
  • 100 grams margarine
  • 50 grams caster sugar

Method

  1. Preheat oven 160C, Gas mark 6.
  2. Cream together the butter and sugar in a bowl. Gradually mix in the flour. Using your hands knead the mix together into a smooth ball
  3. Roll out to about 1/2 cm thick. Cut out your shapes and place on baking tray.
  4. Bake for 10-15min. Sprinkle with a little sugar while they cool
Recipe taken from Nigella's website forum click here to have a look. If you recreate these biscuits make sure you post them on Instagram or Tumblr and I'll love to have a look.

Happy V day!
